This Weeks Topic
Helping Your Family
This Week was a very exciting week for Us we have in all essence covered the West Coast from Sacramento to Santa Barbara then all the way to Seattle Washington, and back to Sacramento again. Gee then its back to Santa Barbara again to pick up Sooz Daughter Linds... So Yes Folks We're the Traveling Band.
Now You may ask hows this all tie into this Weeks Topic... The Simple fact is Sooz gave her Old Compaq AMD 750mhtz to her Mom... This being a Learning Experience for Sooz on the Gift of Love does truly go a long ways. Yeah like 1772 Miles Roundtrip.
The other thing is when a Gift of Love... the Cost is not questioned... Sooz Mom with a few Major Tweaks is running where Sooz almost didn't give it to her because is Purring like a Kitten and looking real nice. Yeah Sooz Mom has a real Screaming Machine now for a beginner on this Great Internet Experience.
Now the thing is for Jer this isn't the 1st time done this so luckily the Cost he somewhat knew would not truly be as inexpensive as Sooz thought...
Things to Look for when giving a Gift
Before ever getting into Giving a Computer as a Gift check to make sure.
- Does it fit the Needs of the Person Giving
Todays Standards for Most Software to run should be Windows 98 Minimum usually 350Mhtz and above.
You should check to see if has enough Memory...the Minimum of todays standards is usually 128mb memory...
Memory is actually one of the least expensive items to buy!
Just please check to see if Computer meets these Requirements... these will at least give the Person giving computer a fighting chance to want to learn
- Next Check to see does the Computer need a New Monitor
- Check and see if Video Card will give the Value want to present
Sooz Moms we not only bought a New 17 inch Monitor $99 Sams Club a Samtron made by Samsung... Very Beautiful Monitor for the Price...
We also installed a SIS315 AGP Display Card 32mb of Video very nice being the Old Compaq was 8mb and did not have 3D display capabilities but also gave the Machine above TV standards for Video very sweet deal for $39
The Things to do that make a Difference
This Gift we put the Compaq back to full like out of Box Factory Restore so we could Personalize Sooz Mom's Computer to her...using the Restore Disk that comes with Compaq
So We'd recommend that if giving a Computer You either do this or Reformat and Rebuild it so is same as New.
Remember Check Harddrive Today its really nice to have Storage and Harddrives are inexpensive and easy to install if can read simple directions. usually a 20gig or above Harddrive is great for a Newbie.
Items to make Your Gift Fun.
What makes a Gift Fun is insuring before giving... You might add the Bells and Whistles. So on Sooz Mom's we added all these Fun things.
- WebCam we used a Creative Labs Pro Cam $39
- Microphone... hey they are cheap where we live and at $2.99 We bought (3)

Needless to say even after find the Bells and whistles Remember what People need most are Following Items
- USB Cables if Needed
- 4 Port Mini USB Hub they usually are under $10
- Mouse Pad/New Mouse if Needed
- Multi Function Power Controller Panel this is that Panel can shut off what not using... it acts as the secondary Surge Protector to protect Your Computer also.
- Surge Protector
- Printer so can Print out items
We actually found a Neat Package at Sams by Lexmark thats is a Combo Printer...Scanner and on the Fly Fax Machine thats uses Your Computer but without the hassle. The Cost $99 and where was this Bought haha Good Old Sams a division of WalMart

Needless to say this Past week was another one of Gift giving Plus a Fun Birthday Gift for Sooz Mom who will be Believe it or not 70 on the 30th... Yeah now We can Video Conference and as We are doing right now Listening to her getting Lunch... That $2.99 Mic is Amazing Yeah Baby The Sacramento to Washington as is Jer's to his Family in Oklahoma is now Up and Running!
So Just remember sometimes the Gift of Love can make Your Contacts as close to Home.
Before We Leave just a Last Word...We are at War with Iraq...
We Do Not Ourselves Promote any Wars...We Ourselves prefer to stay Neutral in Our Opinions
