Prevention_ Preparedness...Sooz woes

Oh No! My Computer Quit!

Yesterday, after working an entire day on a webpage My Computer quit

There were no warnings, no bells or whistles. Down ...down... down... she went! I sat there in disbelief because the thoughts of...

Having to redo the entire days work
Had No back up copies of the Mailing Lists so would be like starting over from scratch
Did not have the particulars about the computer, hard drive, processer, etc...written down
Extra unexpected expenses
Lost time

In a nutshell this was the Disaster that brought about this weeks Topic

Do what You can to Prevent a Crash. Be Prepared if You do Crash

As it turned out there were a number of reasons the Power Supply went out

When we removed it there was dust...Lots of Dust...and dog fur wrapped around the fans

It sits under the desk where the one pup named J'Lo, likes to sleep during the day. When she lays down there inevitably bumps the 'box' up against the side of the desk which could possibly be another reason for this happening

So, for starters, keep the area free of dust, animal fur and possible jarring is a good idea

Preparedness- Remember the Old Cliche- "A stitch in time Saves Nine"

No kidding! No No No We weren't saying "Should Have, Could Have,Ought to Have and Only If " had taken the few extra minutes to make Back Ups of everything!

To save Yourself long term headaches and many hours You need to keep updated Back Ups of all Your important Files, Accounts, Passwords and Documents

This is where a CD Writer is worth it's weight in Gold...If you own a CD writer this task will be virtually Painless

Make sure to Have the particulars about Your computer written down on paper some place safe. This way you won't have to guess a part number, or bring your entire computer to the parts store

So,...JerSooz says do Yourself a Favor and take the few minutes for this. By doing these simple things you can very easily be saving Yourself major headaches, frustration, your valuable time and money!

Only draw back... We had... was it took us longer to try to figure out Our Root Url address for Our Website/Ezine Server

We still in less then an Hour had it set up and seeing the Pictures...Your seeing

H&M made it simplier... then We were thinking for the address...more like use the simple Your.../yourdomain.com ... instead of the more advanced ones have to use in others...then its just the...Domain Ftp...http://yourdomain.com info you were given for Your server

For All Us Computer People even if a Newbie if You don't get overwhelmed by the power of this its a great software package

Plus Neat tricks can do...You can open the Picture Folder You saved to...then merely by right clicking on any Picture...send that Picture via email

Plus this Baby has a Full Screen Slide show...and as far as we could see...No Picture distortion

We loved the fact...You can simply click and browse Your Foto's as they say down under

You can get going fast!...whether for Your Own use...or Webpage Creations...with Professional Studio Trick stuff

So hey...Thanks You down Under Folks You have a Sweet Program... Plus give a great deal after 200 Pictures for a great deal to buy for the upgrade
