In a nutshell This exploit issues a "Refresh" command, and can bypass the cross-domain security model which is designed to prevent code in one domain from accessing data in a different domain.

This can easily cause problems whether done on purpose or happens by mistake. Your computer is vulnerable because all you have to do to contract this virus is visit a website which infected.

It can be that the owner of the website is unaware that this code is even on their website, so it is not necessarily 'malicious' every time this virus is contracted.

MacAfee advises, "All vulnerable systems should apply the patch from Microsoft. Patched systems are immune from the effects of the exploit code. However, detection will still occur on files attempting to make use of this exploit."

This virus attacks certain versions of Internet Explorer when they view a webpage that has this malicious javascript code.
