Goals In 2005

Before we begin this weeks topic a note on the recent landslide and destruction of lives and property close to home on the Central Coast of California.
The above picture is the result of continual rain and unstable ground which led to this horrendous disaster in La Conchita California. The hillside above this small town slid in 1995 but only took 9 houses. Warnings were made after the last mudslide but residents were still allowed to live in the area directly against the hillside.
This story hits home for Sooz and Linds because La Conchitan's used to be her neighbors. When Sooz moved to California from Washington she actually considered moving to the small town because the low cost of homes and land there. However, when informed of the reasons the property was so cheap she decided to move to the town just up hiway 101 (westward) called Carpinteria, California. The benefits included no danger of the hillside sliding, local schools grocery stores public transportation and safer access to the beach.
Thanks to Sooz old home town's local News Paper The Coastal View here are some ways you can help.- A fund has been set up at Santa Barbara Bank & Trust to help families of victims of the La Conchita slide. Donations to the Womack and Wallet Memorial Fund may be made at any
Santa Barbara Bank & Trust branch.
